Burned Churches Rebuilt

Mission Statement: We believe that the re-building of these burned Churches is the responsibility of Neighboring Christian Churches and their membership. We are seeking help from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa Churches.

February 15, 2006 – The Cornerstone class of Covenant Presbyterian Church volunteers to raise money to buy Bibles for the Church members of the burned Churches.

February 28, 2006 – Mount Horeb Baptist Church of Hale County donates $166 to buy large print Bibles for the older members of these Churches.

March 7, 2006 – The idea and the commitment to help these Churches is enlarged to include the rebuilding of at least one Church.

March 8, 2006 – Gary Ard Construction volunteers to rebuild one Church and pledges monetary support to the mission.

March 11, 2006 – Plans are drawn up to attract volunteers and contributions from Christian Churches and their members.

April 2006- April 2007 – A group of men met and decided to rebuild Morningstar Baptist Church in Greene County. Five of the men are elementary school or junior high school friends that haven’t been together since college days. Dick Pigford donated his architectural firm and prepared the drawings as well as traveled 90 miles to meet with the Greene County congregation on numerous occasions. Gary Ard donated the labors of his Construction Company. Three men, Crawford Williams, Charlie Perry, and Whitney Debardelaben donated their time to raise money and secure the monies needed to finance the total project. Law Lamar provided free accounting services. There were so many men who donated their materials from their companies to lower the overall cost of the project. These will be listed later.
